SPORTS INJURIES

We have a particular passion for treating the following types of sports injuries…

Football Injuries

Enrich Physio’s director and consultant physiotherapist Richard Walker played football professionally and has worked with many football clubs as their pitchside physiotherapist. With this amount of experience in football we feel it is fair to describe Richard as a specialist in the area. Richard also has an Honours Degree in Applied Sports Science from The University of Edinburgh. This gives him great insights into the biomechanics, nutrition, psychology and rehabilitation of sports injuries.

Richard played professional football for over ten years for Alloa Athletic, Brechin City and Berwick Rangers, making over 300 first team starts in the Championship, League One and League Two – so he has experienced his fair share of injuries in the past! He has also been Head of Physiotherapy in the Irish Premier League with Shamrock Rovers, experiencing Champions League and Europa League football. More locally he has worked at the Heart of Midlothian Youth Academy and been Head of Physiotherapy at Berwick Rangers and Brechin City Football Club.

Enrich Physio are proud to provide specialist physiotherapy treatment to Edinburgh South FC, Preston Athletic, Tranent and Tynecastle Football Club as well as a list of other Lowland League, East of Scotland, Junior, Ladies/Girls and Juvenile clubs. If your club would like to receive specialist football care with Enrich Physio then please mention this when booking.

Golf Injuries

Enrich Physio is housed inside the Braid Hills Golf Centre (Edinburgh’s Premier golf driving range) and so naturally we see a great deal of golfers. These golfers vary from juniors to adults, male or female and recreational to tour players.

With our specialist knowledge of the biomechanics of the golf swing, it never takes long to get to the bottom of any problem and we can then offer specific rehabilitation and manual therapy based on the golfer’s individual weaknesses and physical barriers.

Richard, a keen golfer himself, currently plays off a low handicap and works closely with the professionals at the Golf Centre to help golfers improve within their own physical limitations. This will certainly improve you physically for the demands of a round of golf and enhance your enjoyment.

It may even shave some shots off your score…!

Running Injuries

If you have an injury from running, whether a sudden traumatic event or a long term chronic problem, you will be treated to a full body assessment at Enrich Physio. A runner’s biomechanics will have a massive bearing on their performance and injury likelihood. Once we have completed the assessment, we will tailor your treatment and exercise rehabilitation to your individual training regime and goals to achieve fast, effective results.

Enrich Physio Consultant Physiotherapist Richard Walker also has an Honours Degree in Applied Sports Science from The University of Edinburgh. This gives him far greater insights into the biomechanics, nutrition, psychology and rehabilitation of sports injuries.
